I didn’t drink coffee at all from 2024, but in 2026 I started drinking it again. And this time, I got back into coffee while I was in the hospital.
At first, it was simply a little entertainment. My family would bring me coffee to cheer me up and give me something to enjoy. And somehow, I got hooked on it again.
After all, people are creatures of habit. And, of course, caffeine does its part too: once you start drinking coffee, it’s surprisingly easy to get into it. Before long, it can become a little ritual of its own. No wonder coffee shops have appeared all over the world, practically in every city. It’s a profitable business because many people eventually start buying coffee every day. The main thing is not to overdo it.
So now I drink coffee every day. I like good, quality brewed coffee. Of course, when that isn’t available, I can drink instant coffee, including freeze-dried coffee, but I’m not a big fan of it. I don’t really get it, even the more expensive stuff. I simply prefer brewed coffee.
I usually drink an Americano. Sometimes I’ll have a cappuccino, but that’s not very often. At home, I just brew my coffee and drink it as an Americano.
I make it in a cezve on the stove. It’s quick and easy, without any fuss. It’s not some complicated coffee ritual that takes forever. Add the coffee, give it about five minutes, and it’s ready. And no sugar.
I like trying different brands. Sometimes I buy whatever is available in local stores. It’s a bit of a gamble — you never know if the coffee will actually be good. But experimenting with different coffee is also part of the fun. It’s a little adventure and an experience of its own.
I also buy coffee from specialty tea and coffee shops, where you can choose your own beans. But there, too, you need to know what you’re looking for. I don’t buy flavored coffee. I prefer natural varieties and stick to those.
There are some really good coffee shops in my city, with skilled baristas who know what they’re doing. I’ve been going to some of them for years.
But honestly, I can’t say that everyone knows how to make good coffee. It’s not like every coffee shop serves great coffee and everything tastes good. No — I’d say that’s more the exception than the rule. Or maybe I’m just picky.
Although I know I’m definitely not the pickiest person out there. There are real coffee enthusiasts who can talk about coffee for hours.
